Keyboard Shortcuts (iPad and Mac)

If you're using PolyNome on a Mac, or with an external keyboard on an iPad, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts:

On Main Page:

  • Play/Stop: Spacebar
  • Delayed Play: Shift Spacebar (starts playback after 2 seconds)
  • Tempo Nudge: +/- , or  ↑/↓
  • Tempo Jump: Shift +/-, or Shift ↑/↓
  • Tap Tempo: T
  • Enter Tempo: 0-9
  • Tempo Entry Window: CMD T
  • View Presets: CMD 1
  • View Playlist: CMD 2
  • View Playlist Manager: CMD 3
  • View Goals Dashboard: CMD 4

When viewing Tempo or Number Entry:

  • 0-9 : Digits 0-9
  • Tap Tempo: T
  • Delete: Backspace
  • Play: Space
  • Done: Enter
  • Cancel: Esc

When in a Playlist:

  • Next Item: Right arrow
  • Previous Item: Left arrow

Viewing Presets or Playlists:

  • New Preset/Playlist Item: CMD N
  • Delete selected: CMD Backspace
  • Search: CMD F

Viewing Presets or Playlist Manager:

  • Navigate rows: Up/Down Arrows (you'll see a blue outline)
  • Select Outlined Row: CMD Enter

Playlist Manager:

  • Load selected row: Enter
  • Cancel/Close page: Esc


Edit Pattern Page (new in 22.05.1):

Choosing master note value which subdivisions will be based on (equivalent of selecting a note value from the picker on the left)

  • s: Sixteenth note
  • e: Eighth note
  • q: Quarter note
  • h: Half note
  • w: Whole note
  • b: Bar

Entering subdivisions (equivalent of tapping a button from the main palette)

  • 0: rest
  • 1-9: single note, through to nontuplet

Navigating

  • Up/Down arrows: Move selection between accents, rhythm entry, sound entry
  • Left/Right arrows: Move cursor or highlighted note group left/right
  • Backspace: Delete highlighted note group, or item to the left of the cursor

Rhythm Editing

  • CMD + E: Edit the highlighted note group (to toggle notes/rests)
  • 1-9 (while editing rhythm): Toggle note/rest at that position

Copy/Paste rhythm

  • CMD + C: Copy highlighted rhythm
  • CMD + V: Paste copied rhythm
  • CMD + D: Duplicate highlighted rhythm
  • CMD + S: Save highlighted rhythm to favourites


Sound Entry

  • r/R/ctrl+ r: lower case/upper case/italic R buttons
  • l/L/ctrl+ l: lower case/upper case/italic L buttons
  • h/k: H and K buttons

Accents/Flams/Ties/Slashes (while accent line is selected)

  • a or >: Toggle accent
  • t: Toggle tie
  • f: Cycle through flam/drag/ruff
  • /: Cycle through slashes

Note: If one of the sound lines is selected you can use alt + any of the key commands above to add articulations


Enter: Apply / Done

Esc: Cancel
